Nickelback - Here & Now Album Review
1. This Means War -
2.5/5
The worst song on this album, but it's not a bad song by any means. This is a fight song, a pump-up style song. It comes out fast and loud, something prototypical to atleast one Nickelback song an album. Featuring a loud chorus and sharply said words, "This Means War" definitely brings a kick.
2. Bottoms Up -
4/5
What would Nickelback be without a drinking, partying song? With a "talking" style throughout the song, it really puts you into the mood to go hang out with some buds and have a good time. Another loud song, but it brings a clean tone which allows you to clearly understand the words, which adds to the sound.
3. When We Stand Together -
3.5/5
The song performed at the Halftime show of the Thanksgiving Day Game for UNICEF, what a great message this song sends. It's got a catchy rhythm, and uses a wide range of sound effects to bring along the sound Nickelback intended.
4. Midnight Queen -
3/5
Midnight Queen is sort of unbalanced, going from fast to slow and back again. This adds a good effect, however. There's alot of repition in the song, which is something I'm not wild about. The beat and overall sound is very good on this song.
5. Gotta Get Me Some-
4.5/5
This is a really good song. It's got some laughable moments, but not in a bad way, such as "She's a scene from a Bay watch re-run." This is really a have a good time song, but has that good, unique sound so you can listen to it alone and have a nice tune.
6. Lullaby -
5/5
My favorite song on the album. It has a great message, and it has a GREAT sound. The vocals on this song are the best part, and it's one of those songs where the music is rather quiet to allow the vocalist (Chad Kroeger) to have a great effect, and it's done perfectly.
7. Kiss It Goodbye -
3.5/5
This is a song that relies on it's beat in my opnion, but that's not a horrible thing. It's beat, tempo and rhythm really make this song stick out, and it's easy to see why I give it a 3.5 rating.
8. Trying Not To Love You -
4/5
A strong song for me personally. This can be applied so many ways. The lyrics are so powerful. A smooth, soft, slow song with a powerful meanin. The lyrics are the focal of this song, rather than how he sings them or the beat. It's really a great song.
9. Holding On To Heaven -
3.5/5
same as Trying Not To Love You, very personal for me. This uses a strong chorus to really draw people in, and make them understand the message the song is getting across. The lyrics and vocals are very good, and the music certainly isn't bad.
10. Everythign I Wanna Do -
2.5/5
Not a horrible song, but compared to the rest of the album, it's not one of the best. It seems as if there is too much repition in this song. The sound really picks this song up, one that would make a good instrumental, but it's lacking something.
11. Don't Ever Let It end -
3/5
This is a good song to listen with your special friend. It's a narrative song, so teh lyrics are important, and Nickelback does it very well. Between the lyrics being good and the overall sound also good, it's a good way to end this album.
